Martin was born in a mountain town in the late 17th century, the son of a farmer and a seamstress. Life in Llandudno was idyllic for his family, until one day, over a roast partridge supper, he confessed to his parents that he wanted to be a facilities manager. Farming and seamstressing had been in his family for months, and his parents took exception to their son's desires, enrolling him on a seamstresses course straight away. But Martin was made of stronger stuff than this.

Every moment that was spent outside of the sewing mill, Martin learned the ancient art of facilities management -- from safety protocols to parking space allocation, he learned it all. His idol in this was the author of the booker prize winning guide "Facilities, and how to manage them", Steve Facilities-Manager.

In 1892, Martin was lucky enough to meet Steve at a book signing in West Virginia.

It was there that Steve gave Martin the advice that has guided his career from lowly bra underwire fixer to the heady height of Faciliteis Manager. That's right, Martin achieved his goal. This is why he has such a following around the world, and is now widely professed to be the leader of his chosen field. That's right -- Facilities Management.
